Stampin’ Up! Oval Framelits Easter Card Tutorial

DSC_0869

Hi All!  I wanted to share with you a tutorial I put together on how I made the above Easter Card but first I wanted to share my funny story on how this card came to be!  I had an Easter card for my class that I had settled on – wasn’t thrilled about it, but my class was the next day and so I put it together and cut all my pieces, but just wasn’t thrilled with it – ya know what I’m talking about?  Anyway, about 4 a.m. I had a dream where I created a card that I loved and when I woke up, I got up and went to my stamping room and made that card up!  I loved it so much that I then took the time to cut all the pieces to be able to have everyone make it too.  I loved how this “dream” card came out.  So, forget the hunks that other women may dream about…. I dream in cards – LOL!  Anyway, I hope you like my card and here is the tutorial.  I have it in a PDF file available and if you leave me a comment, I will be happy to e-mail it to you!

Oval Framelits Easter Blessings Card

This is what I used:  Oval Framelits, Very Vanilla card stock, Wisteria Wonder card stock, Flower Trim, Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Amazing Family Stamp Set, Easter Blessings single stamp, Wisteria Wonder ink pad, Pearl Basic Jewels.

Let’s begin:  BASE – Use large scalloped oval.  Cut Very Vanilla card stock 4-1/4 x 11 and fold in half.  Place the framelit as pictured offset the folded cardstock so part of the top of the oval is above the fold line.  You can use a sticky note to hold the framelit in place so it doesn’t shift.

It will leave you with your base like this:

Then take your oval and place it on your trimmer like so to be able to cut a little of the bottom section off so your card will stand upright and not roll around.  I guess you could flip the top section up and just cut the back of the card base if you would you like also, but I’m JUST thinking of that now – LOL!  Anyway, we are going to be cutting the bottom edge off like this:

So now we have this:

Now your base will stand upright:

Next, on the other half of the 4-1/4 x 11 piece left over from your card stock in Very Vanilla, place the large scalloped oval circle and the 3rd oval, placing the 3rd oval inside the scalloped oval like this, and run it through your Big Shot:

You will get these two pieces:

Next, using the second largest oval, cut one from Wisteria Wonder card stock:

So now you have these 4 pieces and we are ready to put our card together!

Take your scalloped circle AND your Wisteria Wonder pieces and put them on top of each other in your embossing folder and run it through the Big Shot to embosss them:

Next, apply adhesive on the front of your BASE card and adhere first the Scalloped circle, matching up the scallops to the base so they match and then adhere your Wisteria Wonder oval on top of the scalloped oval:

It will then look like this:

Take the 3rd largest Very Vanilla oval piece and using just the curved little stamp from Amazing Family stamp set on Page 7 in the Spring catalog, stamp in Wisteria Wonder the top and bottom of the oval.  I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig on Page 7 in the big catalog to help me place my images exactly.  Make sure that once you have your image sheet on the oval that you look at the bottom of the oval to make sure it is lined up straight with the bottom and not crooked!  (ask me how I know…)

So now you have this:

Ok, don’t fret if one line is not exactly lined up cause you can turn it around and make that be the one that is covered with your Flower Trim and no one will know!

Now stamp your Easter Blessings saying in Wisteria Wonder in the center.

Adhere this piece to the center of your Wisteria Wonder oval on your base card.

Stamp in Wisteria Wonder the matching butterfly from Papillon Potpourri on Page 115 (#123759) with our Elegant Butterfly punch found on Page 184 (#127526).  Stamp in the butterfly in Wisteria Wonder on the leftover Very Vanilla card stock piece and punch out your butterfly.  I added some Dazzling Diamonds using the 2-way glue all over the butterfly and attach it to the front – I used some Tombow glue (didn’t want it flying off.. LOL).

Add 2 pearls and 3 flowers from the Flower Trim.  I took the flowers and gently tapped them into the Wisteria Wonder ink pad to give them a soft color and then attached them to my card with a little Tombow glue.

Your card is now finished and ready to have your inside sentiment stamped.

I hoped you liked this tutorial and liked my “dream” card.  I’m working on some cool Easter tags and will have a tutorial for that coming up next!

Stampin’ Hugs!
